About Karissa Annis
I am currently getting my MFA in Writing from SCAD, working my way through the academic system to achieve a professional degree in a field I love. I previously earned an MS in Archaeology from UWM. I wrote my MS thesis on Star Wars and Archaeology, focusing on how the popular views of Archaeology and academic ones overlap and influence each other. I wanted to look at it critically but also examine how Archaeology in something like Star Wars can be used as a teaching method.
I am drawn to stories. My parents were always reading and telling me stories as far back as I can remember, but my heart was pricked when my dad read me The Hobbit for the first time. Ever since, I have been drawn to fields that can tell good stories, fiction or non-fiction, past or present. I hope to continue this journey, and never forget that the stories we tell truly matter.
